Please note that you are not required to pay the $50 application fee when applying for a certificate program. To bypass the payment portion of the application, simply indicate that you will pay by check. Admissions will know not to expect a check from you.
Transcripts are not required when applying for a certificate program.
Under the “Academic Plan” portion of the application, please make sure you indicate your school choice as Touro University Nevada, otherwise your application will not show up in our queue. When indicating which degree program you are applying for, make sure to choose the program for which you have signed up for with CTE. When choosing the term you are applying for, please indicate Fall 2018. You will be a non-degree seeking student.

The course sequence in this certificate program will provide you the opportunity to understand, both from a theoretical and applied perspective, how ABA can positively influence the outcomes of children with disabilities. Upon completion of the program, you will have the option to complete internship hours in our Center for Autism & Developmental Disabilities and/or in your school setting. Completion of this course sequence and the internship hours may qualify you to sit for the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) exam.
What are the benefits of acquiring a BCaBA license?
From a public school perspective, you will be able to provide an appropriate education as required by federal law utilizing the principles and skills acquired throughout this program. From a health care perspective, you will directly increase the access to evidence-based services that families and children need as you work part and/or full-time under the supervision of a BCBA. The state of Nevada currently does not have sufficient professionals to meet the demand and/or needs of families and children with autism. Obtaining the BCaBA license will expand your career opportunities and increase the impact that you have on children with autism or developmental disabilities.


CTAV 602 A – Foundational Concepts of Applied Behavior Analysis
(3 Graduate Credits/24 CUs)        Course Date: TBA

This course will focus on defining and identifying the concepts and principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Specifically, students will explain the basic characteristics of behaviorism, identify the characteristics of behavior, and use reinforcement and punishment procedures. Standards from the Foundational Knowledge list and 4th Edition Task List are correlated to course content.
 

CTAV 602 B – Strengthening and Maintaining Behaviors through ABA
(3 Graduate Credits/24 CUs)        Course Date: TBA

This course will focus on developing, strengthening, and maintaining behavior. Specifically, students will: (a) select, define, and measure behavior; and (b) develop new behavior through imitation, shaping, and chaining. Standards from the 4th Edition Task List are correlated to course.
 

CTAV 602 C – Decreasing and Eliminating Behaviors through ABA
(3 Graduate Credits/24 CUs)        Course Date: TBA

This course will focus on decreasing, eliminating, and replacing target behavior. Specifically, students will: (a) define and provide examples of antecedent variables; (b) decrease behavior with nonpunishment procedures, and (c) use various strategies (e.g., verbal behavior, token economies, etc.). Standards from the 4th Edition Task List are correlated to course content.
 

CTAV 602 D – Single-Subject Research Design for Behavior Analysts
(3 Graduate Credits/24 CUs)        Course Date: TBA

This course will focus on evaluating and analyzing behavior change. Specifically, students will: (a) construct and interpret graphs; (b) analyze behavior change; (c) use single-subject designs (i.e., reversal, multiple baseline, etc.); and (d) evaluate research. Standards from the Foundational Knowledge list and 4th Edition Task List are correlated to course content.
 

CTAV 602 E – Ethical Considerations for Behavior Analysts
(3 Graduate Credits/24 CUs)        Course Date: TBA

This course will focus on understanding the ten ethics codes as it relates to Applied Behavior Analysis. Specifically, students will learn: (a) responsibility to clients; (b) self-monitoring of own professional behavior; (c) conducting assessments and developing behavior change programs that are based on behavior analytic principles; (d) teaching and supervision; and (e) promoting the general welfare of society through the application of the principles of behavior. Standards from the Professional and Ethical Compliance Code are correlated to course content.
 

CTAV 602 F – Professional Conduct of Behavior Analysts in Applied Settings
(3 Graduate Credits/24 CUs)        Course Date: TBA

This course will focus on implementing, managing, and supervising clients and clinicians. Specifically, students will learn: (a) identify essential business skills; (b) demonstrate basic consulting repertoire; (c) apply behavioral knowledge; (d) identify vital work habits; and (e) engage in creative problem solving. Standards from the Professional and Ethical Compliance Code are correlated to course content.
